Rooted in Mityana. Built by community.
A home of care, dignity and hope for vulnerable children.
Gather 4 Children is a community-rooted NGO founded by Ugandan singer Iryn Namubiru to support vulnerable children, teenage mothers, grandmothers, and women who care for them.
Our approach
We support children by strengthening the women who care for them.
In Mityana, many children are raised by grandmothers, relatives, single mothers and caregivers who carry enormous responsibility with very little support. Gather 4 Children stands beside them with practical care, encouragement and opportunity.

Founder’s story
Why I Started Gather 4 Children
I was born an only child and spent part of my childhood being raised by my grandparents in Mityana, Uganda. From an early age, I saw how difficult life could be for many children around me.
In our schools, there were no libraries. Many children could not afford lunch, uniforms, textbooks or shoes. Many grew up without toys, birthday celebrations, Christmas gifts, playgrounds, swings or bicycles.
As a child, I made my own toys from banana fibres, seeds, yam leaf stalks and anything nature could provide. I found happiness in simple things, but I also knew that childhood should be more than survival.
A young boy named Twaha deeply shaped my heart. After his parents died in a terrorist bomb attack during the 1998 France-Brazil World Cup final, he and his brother were left to be raised by grandparents who had very little. His story stayed with me because there are many children like him.
In 2006, after the success of my first solo concert, I used part of the proceeds to pay school fees for ten children. That simple act became the beginning of Gather 4 Children. Read More

What we do
Practical care today. Stronger futures tomorrow.
Care for Children
At Gather 4 Children, we support vulnerable children in Mityana with school materials, clothes, shoes, medical assistance, and moments of joy. Through practical care and community celebrations, we help children feel seen, supported, and able to grow with dignity and hope.
Supporting Mothers, Grandmothers and Caregivers
Gather 4 Children supports vulnerable mothers, grandmothers, teenage mothers and caregivers with land to farm, practical skills training, guidance and community support. Through these programs, women are able to grow food, earn income, care for their children with dignity, and build a more secure future for their families
Our Vision
In Mityana, there are hardly any libraries in schools and no public libraries as wel; many children grow up without access to books, textbooks or computer learning. We dream of creating a public library and digital learning space where every child can read, study, learn and imagine a better future. We also hope to build a safe playground where children can play, laugh, grow in confidence and enjoy sports like football, basketball and handball. Gather 4 Children also needs a strong, permanent shade where mothers, grandmothers, caregivers and children can gather for meetings, training, counselling and community support. These are not just buildings. They are spaces of hope, dignity and opportunity. ,

Father Christmas visits G4C
Each Christmas, G4C brings Father Christmas to Mityana, creating a joyful and unforgettable moment for children and elders. For many, it is their first time seeing Father Christmas in person, and the gifts, music, laughter, and excitement make the celebration truly special
Tulabirire Abakadde N’Abaana “Caring for the Elderly and Children”
This was an activation carried out in partnership with Proud Legends Initiative (PLI), Ice Breakers Uganda and Assorted Trends Africa, focusing on elderly people who are often excluded, forgotten or unable to access care due to frailty and limited mobility. Through this outreach, we visited elderly caregivers in their homes and communities, brought in doctors for consultations and general check-ups, and offered care, encouragement, basic-needs support, and community connection. This work reflects the heart of G4C mission in Mityana: standing with grandparents, mothers, vulnerable caregivers and children, so that no one feels forgotten.
Skills & development
The women of Gather 4 Children are excited and deeply encouraged by this program, as it is equipping them with practical craft-making skills that can help them generate income, even on a small scale. Through this training, they are gaining confidence, creativity and opportunities to support themselves and their families.
2021
In 2021, love was shared practically. Iryn Namubiru, her fans, and well-wishers came together to support mothers and elderly caregivers with clothing, household essentials, and basic items to help bring comfort and dignity to vulnerable families.

2023
Iryn Namubiru and well-wishers visited the Gather for Children community in 2023, donating clothes and basic household items to mothers and elderly caregivers. The day also brought rare joy to the children through bouncing castles, face painting, and games — a first-time experience for many of them.
